Praying for Sanctified Sexuality

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honour, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God (1 Thessalonian 4:3-5)
At Equipping People, this month we will be teaching a series on 'Sanctified Sexuality'. This is about God's standard on purity while waiting and in our relationships. Sexual purity may be expressed by what you do with your body, but it is ultimately rooted in your mind, your heart and your soul. Therefore, we will be praying for the strength and grace to increase in Sanctification, Self-control, Patience and for our marriages to be a place of godly joy, fellowship, pleasure, satisfaction and fulfilment.

Focus 1
Forgiveness and Deliverance from any impurity that hinders a Sanctified lifestyle.
  •  I give thanks to the Lord, who gives me the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 15:57)
  • I declare, I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20;
  • I command every sinful snare over my life to be broken and my soul to escape like a bird out of the snare of the trapper. (Psalm 124:7)
  • I decree that no sceptre of impurity & wickedness will rest on my life portions. (Psalm 125:3)
  • Lord, contend with every sinful habit or ungodly behaviour that contends with my desire for holiness and righteousness (Romans 7:19-23)
  • I command the captives of the mighty to be taken away, and the prey of the terrible to be delivered. (Isaiah 49:25)

Prayer Focus 2
Sanctified Sexuality through spiritual alertness: (Mark 14:38; 1 Thess. 5:22; 2 Peter 3:17; Psalm 1:1; 1 Cor. 6:18)
  • The grace to be on my guard and not get carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from my own steadfastness.
  • I will not walk in the counsel of the ungodly or stand in the path of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful.
  •  I make a covenant with my eyes, that they will not look to that which will excite an immoral desire (Job 31:1)
  • I will not awaken love thoughts until the right time (Songs 2:7)
  • Spiritual alertness to stand; strength, sensitivity and boldness to flee from all kinds of temptation and to glorify God in your body.
  • The discernment and wisdom to abstain from sexual immorality.  (1 Thess. 4:3)
  • The grace to walk in my God-endowed sanctification and purity and not conform to the standard of the world (Rom. 12:1-2)
  • The empowerment to glorify and honour God in my body and in my spirit. (1 Cor. 6:19-20)
  • To focus my mind and spirit on whatever is true, honourable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8).

 Focus 3:
Maintaining Sanctified sexuality through His word: (Ps. 1:2; Prov. 2:1-3; Ps. 119:9-11; Rom. 12:2; Gal. 5:16-18)
  • I receive God’s words in my heart and I will treasure His commands within me.
  • I will incline my ear to wisdom, apply my heart to understanding, cry out for discernment, and lift up my voice for understanding.
  • My delight will be in the law of the Lord and in His law, I will develop a hunger and meditate on it day and night.
  • I pray for the boldness not to conform to this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of my mind, that by testing I may discern what the will of God is.
  • I pray for a fresh fill of the Spirit of God. I will walk by the Spirit, and I will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

  • I command all generational spirits that came into my life during conception, in the womb, in the birth canal and through the umbilical cord come out in Jesus name
Please feel free to contact us if you will like some counselling about these issues.
God bless you.
