"Is this not the fast that i have chosen: to loose the
bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free,
and that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you
bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you
cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh? (Isaiah 58:6-7)
As you fast and pray, we encourage you to follow, during this fasting period, the biblical expectations of God.
If you could, we will like you to perform an act of kindness to someone or a people who have not earned such act of kindness. Preferably, someone you have newly met or a homeless person.
The purpose is to show the love of God during fasting. You could:
- Give someone a gift
- Donate clothing or canned food
- Buy or pack a meal for someone in need.
- Pay for the customer behind you at a food stall,
- Help someone in need
- Give money to a charitable cause.
- Provide an act of kindness to your neighbour
- Act on Isaiah 58:6-8 by praying for people and helping out.
Remember to give the EP 'Pay it forward' card to the recipient(s) of this act of kindness. Do something nice during this time of fasting for someone you do not know. Ask them not to thank you but to also do
something nice for someone else. No act of kindness is too small.
We can all make this world a better place.
